A man from Australia who jumped past a barrier and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, twenty-six, was handed a penalty to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control told local media.

The man shoved past photographers and charged at the celebrity, who was attending the regional launch for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

He has a background of interrupting performances and high-profile gatherings, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.

The incident sparked outrage in Singapore, with many saying he of re-traumatising Grande.

The celebrity has discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her show in Manchester in several years ago killed over twenty people and injured hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the authorities learned he had attempted to intrude on the movie's debut multiple times, according to local news sources.

He then made a another effort to jump the barricades. Protection personnel intercepted him and restrained him.

He then uploaded videos expressing gratitude to the star for permitting his access and said he was "free."

Police arrested him the subsequent day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Court Judge Christopher Goh was referenced by Channel News Asia as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", adding that he was wrong to think he would not experience repercussions.

The actress has not addressed the situation.

Erivo mentioned the situation to the press, saying that she "only aimed to ensure my colleague was protected."

"I'm sure he didn't intend us harm, but you never know with those things, and I wanted to confirm that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she said.
