LeBron James Set to Miss Start of NBA Season because of Sciatic Nerve Pain.

The Lakers star in action

LeBron James began his NBA path with the Cleveland team in two thousand and three.

LeBron James will be absent for up to four weeks and is confirmed to miss the opening of the league campaign with sciatic nerve pain, the Los Angeles Lakers announced.

The player, aged 40, inked a fresh deal with the LA team in the month of June and is set to become the first player to participate across 23 individual campaigns.

Sciatica is a pain in the sciatic nerve that extends through the lower back and through the leg.

James was absent in pre-season and missed the games against the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns this month due to the sciatic problem.

James is projected to sit out for each of the five of the Lakers' games in the month of October, featuring the first game against Golden State.

LeBron James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, has not missed before the beginning of the NBA year in his two-decade-plus career.

His count of over 1,500 games played is just 50 short than surpassing former Celtics star Robert Parish's NBA record.

The four-time NBA champion appeared in 70 of the Lakers' 82 games last season and competed in 71 matches in the prior season.

The previous season, the player recorded 24.4 points, 8.2 assists per game and 7.8 rebounds per game and came in sixth in the MVP award vote.

Los Angeles Lakers made it to the postseason in 2024-25 but fell four games to one against the Timberwolves in the opening round.
